The Bus Goes On

The Metro levy passed by 52%.  People need that bus to get to work and maintain their lives. Without it, we would see our costs rise as employers would have to pay higher wages, and many workers would become unemployed.

Good job Summit County!

  1. Awesome! I am so glad so many people got out and voted. It was a much needed action. Good job!

  2. VOR,
Yes, we both drive to work. Unfortunately, we live in an area where the bus route is not safe for me, and my husband is unable to take the bus due to his work hours. Our goal is to be a one-car family, so when we move out of Akron, we will live in a city with safer public transportation. If the city of Akron provides more security measures along the bus route, I will be the first to drop the extra car and take the bus.

I’m glad this issue passed because it keeps costs down for everyone in Summit County, as employers don’t have to raise prices to pay higher wages to car-owning staff, and more people are able to keep their jobs instead of going on welfare. Additionally, the passage of Issue 8 will allow the SCAT to continue operation, which provides a valuable service to elderly and disabled citizens, so they are able to live their lives.

Issue 8 was about more than the environment. It was about the economy, and helping people.

Your kind thoughts...
